Throw your housewarming party

Collecting the keys to your new home and taking occupation are a few of the first exciting steps you take after purchasing into an off-plan development. Once you have unpacked and settled in, its time to throw your housewarming get-together! Whether it’s to get to know your neighbours or show your family around your new home, a small ‘shindig’ is in order. As a Ridge Town Central resident, you can plan one in your apartment or at the dedicated Clubhouse. We have a quick guide on how to throw a memorable one.

  1. Plan ahead

It’s time to start planning! For your event, decide on food options, number of guests and the date and time of your party. If you are keeping it casual, ensure that you let your guests know when and where this event is happening with a quick email, WhatsApp or knock on your neighbour’s door. There are a range of food options for the party from basic finger foods to charcuterie boards. Let your guests know if they should bring anything with them.

  1. Shop

If you haven’t completely settled in, ensure you do a quick grocery run from your nearby shops at Gateway Theatre of Shopping or even Park Square a few days prior to the day. Make your list and include items like soap, extra toilet paper and ice for the day. If you are catering, then ensure your fridge is up and running to store food items and that you have sufficient crockery available. To avoid much cleaning up after, we suggest opting for disposable items found at your party shops or even supermarkets.

  1. Prepare for the day

The day before your party, ensure your guests have RSVP’d so you are aware of who is attending. Now would also be a good time to clean up. Many of your guests will understand that you’re still settling in but its always a good idea to ensure that there is enough space, so designate a room or specific area to store your boxes that you haven’t attended to yet. Save time by preparing any foods you can keep overnight like side salads or baked goods. This will give you more time on the day to be social with your guests and be present in the moment.

  1. Have fun

The day has finally arrived! Ensure that you chill your drinks, put out your food and arrange for some light music to set the atmosphere. Once your guests start arriving, don’t forget to introduce your new neighbours to your friends and family to make certain that everyone is comfortable. Some of your guests might even want a tour of your space so now is the time to show off your new home or even the estate. Take them around and show them the facilities you have access to. Most importantly, don’t forget to take a picture or two to hang up in your new home!
